British Columbia immigration: provincial nominee streams
Invitations continue in 2026. Skills Immigration now invites by priority category (Care, Build, Innovate) plus health-authority initiatives. The Entry Level and Semi-Skilled stream was closed on 2026-04-23 and no new student streams are being launched.
How the province selects
Registration into a pool, then targeted invitation rounds by category; candidates are ranked with the BC points system (SIRS) and some rounds are wage-based or occupation-specific.
Key facts
- Skilled Worker stream needs at least 2 years of full-time skilled work (TEER 0-3) in the last 10 years; CLB 4 in each skill is required for TEER 2-5 jobs, and language tests are optional for TEER 0-1 unless claiming language points.
- Registration is free; the Skills Immigration application fee rose from $1,475 to $1,750 on 2026-01-22.
- The Temporary Rural/Remote Health Support Initiative will nominate up to 250 people; its registration deadline was extended to 2026-10-07.
- Priority work in 2026 centres on 36 care-sector occupations and 9 skilled trades tied to infrastructure projects.
- BC used its full 2025 allocation of 6,214 (6,195 Skills Immigration, 19 Entrepreneur).
- Entrepreneur Immigration draws are small (about 5-15 invitations per round) with scores around 115-121 for Base.
News item of 2026-08-18: an extra 1,000 nominations from the federal government raised the 2026 allocation to 6,254.
