CRS Points Breakdown: How the 1,200-Point Score Is Built

The CRS gives every Express Entry profile a score out of 1,200. These are the official point tables, laid out factor by factor.

The four parts of the score

The score has four parts. Core human capital (age, education, language, Canadian work) is worth up to 500 points, or 460 if a spouse or partner comes with you. Spouse factors add up to 40. Skill transferability rewards combinations, such as strong language plus a degree, and is capped at 100. Additional points cover a provincial nomination, French ability, Canadian education and a sibling in Canada, up to 600.

Things people often miss

  • Language matters twice. CLB 9 in every ability raises your core language points and unlocks the higher tier of two transferability combinations.
  • Age points start falling at 30 and reach zero at 45.
  • A partner can cost points. Applying with an accompanying partner lowers the maximum for your own factors; their education, language and Canadian work can win some back. If your partner is a Canadian citizen or PR, you are scored as single.
  • Job offers add nothing to CRS since 2025-03-25, though they still matter for FSW eligibility and many provincial streams.
