What the work involves
Main duties
- Research the feasibility, design and performance of mechanical components and systems
- Plan projects and prepare cost estimates, reports and design specifications
- Design machines, power plants, tools and fixtures
- Analyze vibration and dynamics of mechanical systems
- Supervise installation and commissioning of mechanical systems on site
- Investigate failures and set maintenance standards and schedules

- Bachelor's degree in mechanical or a related engineering discipline

- Registration normally follows an accredited degree, three or four years of supervised experience and a professional practice exam
