What the work involves
Main duties
- Assign, coordinate and supervise farm workers and machinery operators
- Oversee livestock breeding, crop growing and animal and crop health programs
- Set work schedules and procedures
- Enforce farm safety, food safety and bio-security rules
- Keep production and quality control records
- Provide contract services such as spraying, planting or harvesting and hire and train workers (contractors)

Employment requirements
- Farm supervisors may need a college certificate or specialized training in agriculture or livestock husbandry
